All about the Bees and the Queens
Bees and queens are both members of a honey bee colony, but they have different roles and responsibilities.
Bees are the female worker bees in the colony. They are responsible for tasks such as collecting nectar and pollen, building and maintaining the hive, caring for the young, and defending the colony from predators. Bees are essential to the survival of the colony, as they are responsible for collecting food and maintaining the overall health and well-being of the hive.
Queens, on the other hand, are the reproductive members of the colony. There is only one queen in a hive, and her primary role is to lay eggs. She can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day, which is necessary to maintain the population of the colony. The queen also emits pheromones that help regulate the behavior of the worker bees in the hive, ensuring that they work together efficiently and effectively.
In short, bees are the worker bees that perform most of the day-to-day tasks in the hive, while the queen is the reproductive leader of the colony. Both are essential to the survival and success of a honey bee colony.
