Used when colonies are at risk of running out of stores:

• Late winter / early spring
• During unexpected dearths

Fondant acts as a quick safety net.

3. 🌧️ Feeding when syrup isn’t suitable

Fondant is preferred over syrup when:

• Weather is too cold for liquid feeding
• High humidity could cause syrup spoilage
• You want to avoid stimulating brood rearing too early

• Useful during hive transport (less spillage than syrup)
• Helps small or newly split colonies maintain energy
